p.s. Yesterday I received an email that the new BizTalk Hotrod issue is OUT now.
I want to wish all the readers of my blog a happy new year!!
This new year brings also a new project for me. With a team of Avanade people we started today and we are going to build a system for requesting all kind of licenses. Such as for operating a large boat or driving a taxi. We are going to use all of the latest technologies BizTalk 2010, Sharepoint 2010 and CRM 2011. So that will probably result in some interesting blogposts!
I also want to get two more certifications this year:
- Windows Azure
- BizTalk Server 2010
Furthermore I will be writing an article on creating hybrid cloud solutions with BizTalk AppFabric Connect for Services. The article might get published in the Dutch .NET magazine.
Would be interesting to hear what other peoples goals are for this year?!
Best Wishes for 2011!
You can build websites with ASP.NET, Silverlight or other technologies like PHP. But after you have build the website, people need to alter things on the website. You don’t want to be called for each and every thing they want to change on the website. So you are better off to start with a content management system right away!
I tried to use it some years ago, but at that time there was a lack of documentation. This week is the first Dutch Umbraco User Group meeting at The Microsoft office at Schiphol. I will attend this meeting because I want to see how Umbraco is improving. Umbraco is greatly appreciated amongst the community and receives good reviews. Let’s see if they can make me a fan of their product too:)
You can find all the details of the meeting HERE.
Yesterday evening was my television debut:)
I am back from a well deserved vacation to Cyprus. Cyprus is quite nice, also in October. It’s still 25-30degrees. But if you decide to go to Cyprus I would advise to stay on the Greek side of the Island. It’s more fun for tourists there.
The new fiscal year(FY11) already started at Avanade and hopefully it will be such a success as FY10. We are anxiously waiting for our new HTC Trophy Windows Phones 7, but it looks promising.
I’m really looking forward to the game Frogger on my Windows Phone 7:)
Last week we had the PDC(Professional Developer Conference) in the US, meanwhile I watched some interesting videos from PDC. Especially the one about the Biztalk roadmap and Integration as a service(IaaS).You can watch the BizTalk Server 2010 and Roadmap session here.
David Chappell just released an updated version of his whitepapers about the Azure platform “Introducing Windows Azure” and “Introducing the Windows Azure Platform” with latest feature updates and enhancements as presented at PDC’10
Exciting times are coming up and a lot to learn about!!
If you need a refreshing break from learning or just some music during work, you can always download some new stuff:)
There is a selling initiative going on at Avanade Netherlands. Which means that if you sell a project with I believe over a 100 mandays of work, you are allowed to drive in the Avanade Tesla for a week. The car is spotted by the Dutch news website NU.NL
So if you are interested in driving this very fast car, you know what to do and who to call 🙂
When calling a RFC method on a SAP CRM system using the WCF custom adapter with SAP binding I received the following error message:
The adapter failed to transmit message going to send port "WcfSendPort_SAPBinding_Rfc_ARCHIV_CONNECTION_INSERT" with URL "sap://CLIENT=018;LANG=NL;@a/**.*.**.***/35?RfcSdkTrace=False&AbapDebug=False". It will be retransmitted after the retry interval specified for this Send Port. Details:"Microsoft.Adapters.SAP.RFCException: Details: ErrorCode=RFC_EXCEPTION. ErrorGroup=RFC_ERROR_APPLICATION_EXCEPTION. SapErrorMessage=. AdapterErrorMessage=Error returned by RfcCallReceiveEx while calling RFC: ARCHIV_CONNECTION_INSERT.
The error message doesn’t provide much information:(
In our case the message we were sending towards SAP contained a mandant element <ns0:MANDANT>18</ns0:MANDANT>
Mandant is the highest level of organizational unit on a SAP/R3 system, it’s also called Client.
At our customer the mandant was either 018 or 020. The leading zero was missing which resulted in the exception. So we changed the mandant element to contain the leading zero.

My favorite feature in Windows 7 is the built-in partition manager! Often I copy VHD files from colleagues and use those as a starting point for my own development. Sometimes I run into the issue that I want to install additional software on the image but there is no more space available on the image.
My solution for this is the following:
- Take a backup of your VHD.
- Run the “VHD Resizer” tool to add extra disk space to the VHD.
- Start the VHD and take a look at the disk via Disk Management. You will see that the disk has now extra unallocated disk space.
- Because the disk is the system disk you cannot use DISKPART to add the unallocated disk space to the system partition. But….. Windows 7 is there to the rescue
- Shutdown the VHD and again take a backup.
- Go to StartControl PanelAdministrative ToolsComputer Management in Computer Management select Disk Management.
- In the right pane expand “More actions” and select “Attach VHD”
- Specify the VHD you want to extend
- Right the partition you want to extend and select ‘Extend Volume’
- Complete the ‘Extend Volume Wizard’ and the result should be an extended VHD file as shown below. After that detach the VHD by right clicking the Disk and then selecting the option ‘Detach VHD’
